Google boss
Eric Schmidt revealed that the giant company has developed a new technology
that can make it difficult to find pictures of the sexual abuse of
children on the internet .
As written
in the British Daily newspaper , Google's Executive Chairman said that more
than 100,000 searches will no longer produce undesirable content.
This will
come into force for the countries that use the English language and will be
applied also to other countries including 158 other languages in 6 months
time .
The
statement comes ahead of a meeting on Monday at the office of prime minister
David Cameron in Downing Street , where Google and Microsoft will join other
Internet companies .
On July ,
Cameron insisted that the search engines to go further in block Internet
surfers accessing illegal images .
Schmidt
wrote : " Although the public will not completely eliminate the vices like
it , we must do everything in our power to protect children from harm . "
He said
that in the last three months , Google has deployed more than 200 staff who
worked on the development of new technologies to address those issues .
"
Although there is no perfect algorithm and Google is not able to prevent
pedophiles add new pictures to the web , this change has cleared the search
results for more than 100,000 searches that may be associated with sexual abuse
of children.
" We
will soon roll out a change in more than 150 languages , so the impact will
be truly global . "
Schmidt
said the warning from internet giant based in California now will show at the
top of search results for more than 13,000 searches explaining that child
sexual abuse is illegal and gives advice on where to get help .
He also
said Google has developed technology that allows illegal video for ' tagged' so
all duplicates may be deleted videos all over the web .
" We
welcome the leadership taken by the British government , and hope that the
technology developed by our industry will make a real difference in the fight
against this terrible crime , " said Schmidt .
